Chanson de geste

Compagne du premier instant !

Dame à mon cœur dès l’aube liée,

Moi, fier seigneur d’un âge ancien,

Aux rudes lois trop familier,

Je te veux franche et souveraine,

Épanouie dans tes talents,

Sans les chaînes avilissantes

De tous ces censeurs malveillants.

Car seul Amour nous tient ensemble,

Par-delà l’épreuve et le vent ;

Meurtris parfois, mais sans désemparer,

Nous marchons fiers et triomphants.

Et moi, Chevalier sans armure,

Par mille feux déjà durci,

Pour toi, quand grondera l’injure,

Je sonnerai hardiment l’olifant.

Nulle loi ne te veux contraindre,

Sinon d’aimer comme je fais ;

Mais si l’on ose te restreindre,

Par fer et foi  me dresserai.

Car plus que glaive ou renommée,

C’est ton regard qui me fait roi.
